Volunteer with Mercy Works Connect
Give a Little Time. Change a Life.
Every week, people from refugee and asylum seeker backgrounds are building new lives in Australia.
A new language.
A new education system.
A new beginning.
You can be part of that journey.
When you volunteer, you help build confidence, connection and a sense of belonging. You might be supporting a student in a classroom, or working with adult learners in a community setting.
You don’t need to be a teacher. You just need to care.
Because Showing Up Matters
There is real joy in watching someone grow in confidence.
In seeing small breakthroughs lead to big change.
In knowing your time is making a real difference.
“One morning a week can change someone’s life. It’s certainly changed mine.”

Volunteer Story
Michael signed up to volunteer for a few months. Six years later, he’s still there.
Each week, he spends a morning with Jamal, helping with reading, writing and building confidence.
“At the start, he didn’t see himself as a capable learner,” Michael says.
Today, Jamal is thriving and recently delivered a leadership speech to his school.
