Finance Manager

We are seeking a Finance Manager to support our valuable work. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, this crucial and important senior position is responsible for all aspects of financial management.

Acting as a co-signatory for the organisation, you will complete all financial internal and external reporting obligations, including Board Reports, monthly reports, tax and insurance compliance, government and statutory bodies.

You will prepare and manage the annual budget, payroll, workers compensation, disbursement of project funds, accounts payable and receivable with the assistance of a Finance Officer.

About you
Applicants will need:

  • relevant qualifications and experience in finance and accounting, preferably CPA or CA qualified
  • understanding of the requirements for reporting to statutory bodies
  • strong working knowledge of all tax compliance relating to NFP’s
  • advanced competency in the use of MYOB, MS Office, particularly Excel
  • ability to work in a team environment
  • maintain discretion and confidentiality
  • ability to work autonomously, demonstrate initiative and manage time efficiently
  • excellent communication skills
  • a current driver’s licence.


This position is part time, working 3 days a week based in the Mercy Works office at Lewisham (NSW).

Child Care Aide

The Mercy House of Welcome was opened in October 2013 to provide support services to asylum seekers. We offer a range of programs including English language classes, a pro-bono legal service, assistance with accommodation, material goods, food and referral services to other support agencies. A number of our families have young children and we want to provide a safe and nurturing program of activities both indoor and outdoor.

We are looking for a confident and competent person who loves to work with children, is flexible and can work successfully in an unstructured, multicultural, community environment with children of all ages (including preschool).

Child care qualifications desirable but not essential.

Applicants must be able to respect and uphold the ethos and teachings of the Catholic Church.

This is a fixed term part-time position working Monday to Wednesday, 9.30am to 12.30pm on an initial 12 month contract, with a view for renewal for an additional 12 months.

Located at the Mercy House of Welcome in Le Hunte St, Kilburn.
